Awaaz Anjane travels this week to United Kingdom to bring to you the voice of Ajeet Nair. An oral surgeon by profession, Ajeet enjoys singing old hindi songs specially by Kishore and Mukesh. Student life in India saw him performing extensively in live shows but then the rigors of training as a physician in the UK pushed singing to the backseat. Ajeet is now back to singing and sent us few fabulous Kishore numbers. Listen to his songs and a conversation with Deb covering the entire gamut from music to root canals! Also featured in this episode is a song by Paromita. She was featured earlier in the Lata Mangeshkar birthday episode. As we bring to you new performers, do send your feedback and let us know if you would like us to bring back any one of your favorite singers featured in the past.

 Happy Listening!

Nehru
Celebrating Children’s Day. This week marks India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday which is celebrated as Children’s Day in India on November 14. Elsewhere, United Nations celebrates November 20 as the Universal Children’s Day. At Awaaz Anjane we treat you to some angel voices with this Children’s Day Special podcast. Guest host Shaun takes you through Sanskrit shlokas, sargams, poems, tongue-twisters, songs and instrumental pieces – all by children from age two to pre-teens. We take this moment to also pay our respects to Panditji. Please encourage our young performers by submitting your comments. We wish our listeners from United States a Happy Thanksgiving as we take a one-episode break. Our next episode will be on November 30.

Introducing three new voices. Scientist Dr. Des Raj from Montana handles with ease the range of Sukhwinder Singh to Lucky Ali in two songs of contrasting styles. You will enjoy not only his melodious voice but also the feelings that he puts in his songs. Sajai from India sends a beautiful Md. Rafi song. Working for Reliance Industries in Cochin, Sajai dreams of coming to Mumbai, becoming a singer and someday meeting Sonu Nigam. We leave Sajai with his dreams and follow software engineer Vishal from Florida as he takes us through the dreams of Aamir Khan in the famous QSQT song. Parents, don’t forget to send in your child’s performances for the Children’s Day episode next week.

Vishwini02In this episode we introduce the musical couple Vishwesh and Ashwini. Together, they form the unique musical team Vishwini. Software engineer Vishwesh is a vocalist, trained in both Carnatic and Hindustani styles but his versatility takes him beyond software and music. He is also an actor and a cartoonist. We reproduce below a cartoon Vishwesh drew exclusively for Awaaz Anjane. Ashwini is an electrical engineer and a vocalist and a Veena player. The duo performs in concerts in US and has released two original albums, Ghama Ghama and Resurgence. Both albums have been very well received. In this episode, we talk to the couple on their training and passion for music and play few songs from the albums and clips from their experiments with fusion music. The real bonus is, however, an extremely innovative performance by Vishwesh where he takes Awaaz Anjane listeners on a journey to meet the immortals of Hindi music through a song from movie Baazigar.
