JoJoShe began her live performances when she was only seven years old. And even today she prefers public performances to going inside the “glass booth for recording”. Meet Jojo – singer extraordinaire from Kolkata and Mumbai. She is a household name in eastern India and an icon of pop music. But as her forays into hindi music through playback singing in movies, remixes and original albums show – versatility is her middle name. In this episode, Jojo shares her love for live shows and her admiration for Asha Bhosle, whom she idolizes. Listen to the story of how she became a part of Shubhen Chatterjee’s fusion album Bandish Fusion and sung the masterpiece Rang Sari. Her hindi playback credits include Devaki and Samaa (music by Bikram Ghosh) and a unique remix of the old favorite Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar in Yatra. The latter is all the more creditable as she had to sing the song and lip-sync after Rekha had finished the shoot. As these songs portray, Jojo has come a long way from her pop singing days and is ready to dazzle the international audience with her versatile talents. As one of her ardent fans, we wish her all the success. And for you, we wish you a very happy Diwali.
